The Lafayette Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ) is not a building, but a people. We are brothers
and sisters who choose to minister with one another, bringing
varied gifts and viewpoints for the good of the Whole, and
celebrating our life journeys within community.
We celebrated 50 years
as both a neighborhood and regional church within the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) tradition in 2009. Would you rather be
right or be in
relationship? We choose relationship every time.
Our worship is a
casual blend of traditional and contemporary styles. We are an Open and Affirming congregation, inclusive of all
people. We cherish frequent participation by youth and children
as worship leaders and teachers of wonder and mystery.
Our
community is an example of combining the roles of personal
responsibility and faith with social and global responsibility.
We are also a Teaching Parish for Pacific School of Religion
in Berkeley, Ca.
Our guests in worship and our community life
reflect deep individual and communal spirituality. There is
an intentional openness to the wisdom of all faith traditions;
a progressive understanding of our world, our faith, and our
call to “healing
ministries,” and the challenges, gifts and possibilities
brought through a strong education program for all ages.
