The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) believes that any adult ten years old or older can become a member of the church. While we do offer classes for our young people who seek church membership, you do not have to have classes to join. At each Disciples service, an invitation to membership is offered. You can just walk forward and join LCC, either by declaration of faith or transfer of membership from another spiritual community. Nothing else is required.

If you have questions about joining the church and what it means, simply talk to one of our pastoral staff. They would love to sit and talk with you about church membership and your own spiritual questions.

It should be noted that LCC is an “open and affirming” congregation. We extend membership to all people, regardless of sexual orientation. We also have ordained gay and lesbian clergy, the first Disciples church in our region to do so.

Finally, we have members who attend who identify with other faith traditions. Our community is one where we may agree or disagree theologically, but have always valued being in relationship with one another over being “right.”
