“The Soul of Aging”
A monthly ten session exploration
of the challenges, joys and possibilities of aging wholeheartedly
September 14, 2023—June 13, 2024
What is “The Soul of Aging?”
Based on the work of Dr. Parker Palmer, the Center for Courage & Renewal developed a process called the Circle of Trust®, an approach within which participants support one another in a safe, confidential, and sacred space to access the voice and depth of the soul.
Faye Orton Snyder and Rebecca Andre, apprentice in the Courage Work, are pleased to be able to offer this 10 session series to our congregation and neighbors.
Using the Courage & Renewal Center’s “Soul of Aging” curriculum and the Circle of Trust approach, 10 participants will learn how to listen deeply to one another and how to create spaces that are safe for honest sharing and self-discovery, They will explore together the topic of aging as they seek to understand, find the joy in, and be transformed by the aging process.
Program themes address many of the spiritual aspects of this season of our lives, including questions of forgiveness, where we are in our spiritual development, what aspects of ourselves are still yearning for expression, our relationship with time, how to love and serve others, and the notion of befriending our own deaths. Clearly these themes invite a level of honesty and self-disclosure along the way.
The series of 10 gatherings will meet monthly on the second Thursday morning from 9:30-12:00. (Coffee, tea and snack in the kitchen at 9:15) Participants are required to make a commitment to attend every session, (with the understanding that as life unfolds you might need to miss one or two). We will meet at Faye and Steve Snyder’s home: 640 Los Palos Drive, Lafayette (about 2 blocks from the church).
To register, email Kelley at email@example.com before September 8.
