Request For Proposals

Ann and Al Wolf Partnership in Compassionate Action (PiCA)
Lafayette Christian Church
The main purpose of Partnership in Compassionate Action (PiCA) is to offer grants to innovative organizations and programs that actively bring compassion into our world by meeting people’s real needs. PiCA also seeks to be supportive in developing partnerships with these organizations and programs in ways that are mutually beneficial.

Any organization or program that promotes wellbeing, peace, and justice in compassionate ways may apply. The PiCA steering committee will utilize a process of discernment to discover the best programs to support.

We are not simply looking to give money away in a transactional manner. Rather, the committee seeks to form transformational partnerships that will benefit all involved.

PiCA will award grants of up to $10,000 annually (renewable) for projects that promote wellbeing, compassion, peace and justice.

Projects may be reviewed and funded for a second year upon application.

Projects may focus on Lamorinda, Contra Costa County, Northern California or the wider world. Projects should involve active communication and interaction with Lafayette Christian Church.

There is no explicit expectation that grant recipients will subscribe to the beliefs, practices or fellowship of Lafayette Christian Church or the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination. Grant recipients who do subscribe to the above are of course most welcome.

Applications for seed grants are most welcome. Priority will be given to new or recently-started activities rather than to established programs.

The preliminary application form is HERE.

Applications will be reviewed twice yearly. The deadline for the first review of applications is June 1, 2022. A  second batch of applications will be reviewed in the fall, with a submission deadline of October 1, 2022.
